This past weekend we took the girls to the Balloon Festival in Plano. I saw it advertised many years ago when I was living in New York and always wanted to go. Determined to make the morning launch at 7:00 a.m., I woke the girls at 5:45. I found myself channeling my father who was notorious for waking us up super early on vacations and killing the fun. Hopefully I can find an in-between on future outings of sticking with our agenda but allowing a little more freedom.
We headed out around 6:15 and both kids were in great moods, but Vera was delirious and it made us laugh hysterically. She asked me several times to "turn the lights on please." I explained that the sun was not up yet and there was no way to turn on the lights. Then she told me I better not touch the jellyfish, as I can only imagine she was still mid-dream.
Unfortunately, the balloons were not able to launch into the air because there were too many clouds. The sky was beautiful and filled with billowy clouds (though not apparent at 5:45 from our house).
We all still had a great time.
Like father, like daughter. They made the most of it all and Stella had fun in the Solly.
